CALÓ NEWS celebrates one-year anniversary serving Latino readers

Today, CALÓ NEWS and our staff celebrate a milestone. This issue marks our one-year anniversary. Last year, the Latino Media Collaborative (LMC), an emerging non-profit organization that develops high-impact media outreach, launched CALÓ NEWS with the mission of informing, engaging and empowering our greater Latino community on the issues and perspectives that mean most to us, particularly for those who live in a growing number of news and media deserts.

CALÓ ELECTIONS: LA mayoral candidates participate in Latino forum

Only 175 days until the City of Los Angeles holds a general election for mayor and last night four of the 12 in-ballot mayoral candidates participated in the “Latino Equity Now: Mayoral Candidate Forum,” hosted by the L.A. Latino Equity and Diversity Initiative (LALEADI). The forum took place at Plaza de la Raza, a cultural center in Lincoln Park, and provided candidates an opportunity to share their plans to address current issues and challenges impacting the Latino community.
