As we mark the one-year anniversary of this CALÓ NEWS, it’s appropriate to reflect on the impact that we’ve made in the Latino community and the role that we play in the media landscape.
When we launched a year ago, we set out to provide a fresh perspective on the news, one that was rooted in facts and focused on the most pressing issues impacting Latinos. We wanted to create a space where our readers could engage with thoughtful analysis and opinion pieces that challenge their assumptions and broaden their understanding of the world.
Over the past year, we’ve worked hard to live up to our mission. We’ve covered major events from the pandemic to the crisis in Los Angeles City hall, and we’ve explored topics ranging from health to social justice to environmental justice. We’ve interviewed experts, activists, and everyday people to bring you stories that are both informative and engaging.
But we’ve also faced our fair share of challenges. The media landscape is constantly evolving, and it’s not always easy to keep up. We’ve had to navigate new technologies, changing audience preferences, and a polarized political climate that often pits us against each other.
Despite these challenges, we remain committed to our mission and to expanding our operation to meet the needs of our region’s expansive community. We believe that journalism has a crucial role to play in our democracy and community, and that a free and independent press is more important now than ever, particularly in our communities. We’re proud to be part of that tradition, and we’re grateful to our readers for supporting us over the past year.
